ABOUT THE ROLE
To head up the Compliance Team and lead the Workman group’s compliance strategy ensuring that the Firm delivers effective and efficient practices and policies which complies with legislative and regulatory requirements.
The Compliance Team is responsible for advancing and empowering a “risk-aware culture” based on ethics and integrity across the Firm. It works in partnership with all levels of staff to give integrated legal, risk and regulatory advice and support. The role gives exposure to other regulatory bodies like RICS, Licensing Authorities, The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). This role will cover all entities including Workman LLP, Workman Facilities Management and Workman Turnbull (our French company).
WHAT MATTERS MOST IN THIS ROLE
Communication and building strong professional relationships is paramount to this role. In addition to the external regulators listed above, it also includes working with key internal stakeholders and the heads of our support functions such as HR, IT, Finance and Health & Safety.
You will be passionate about keeping abreast of changes to recent legislation whilst ensuring the Firm’s policies and procedures are kept up to date and compliant with the applicable ISO Standards. You will have the confidence and knowledge to advise the Management Board on any necessary compliance matters whilst also delivering comprehensive training to the rest of the firm, including Data Protection/GDPR, fraud and cyber security.
You will be required to conduct periodic internal and external audits and assist the Heads of Departments with their necessary requirements.
You will also contribute to the assessment of prospective new contracts and management agreements to ensure that terms and conditions relating to data protection and GDPR are appropriate.

You will have experience working in a similar level role ideally within the real estate or a commercial industry.
You should have a proactive, practical, and positive approach to work.
The role includes supervising a small team, so previous management experience and skills in motivating and developing team members is required.
Excellent and professional communication skills with the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines. Commercial acumen is essential.
Ability to multitask and manage a large number of complex cases simultaneously.
