Job Description

As the Sustainable Investment Specialist you will play a crucial role in integrating sustainable investment factors (such as climate factors, biodiversity, nature) into Evelyn Partners investment products and central investment process. You will work in collaboration with the Stewardship and Strategy teams to research sustainability themes including energy transition. You will support the definition and delivery of Evelyn Partners sustainability and climate requirements, including ensuring alignment to evolving regulatory requirements, specifically in relation to the climate risk implementation of the UK FCA Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

You will bring passion, expertise, and a track record of quantitative and qualitative analysis of climate in an investment context. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on a wide range of business problems and identify innovative ways to support our Investment Managers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of the capabilities and tools needed to assess sustainability and climate-related risks and opportunities in portfolios.
  • Generate insights to inform responsible investment strategies by researching climate-related industries, policies, and analytical methodologies.
  • Build relationships with Investment Managers to explore, understand and evidence how climate-related insights can improve client outcomes.
  • Advance the climate education and climate fluency of the Investment team by writing thematic reports on climate-related responsible investment issues.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team of Sustainable Specialists, Data and Stewardship Analysts, engaging with colleagues in Strategy, Risk and Investment teams.
  • Support the Investment team in articulating the firm’s approach to responsible investment.
  • Provide materials and reports to update committees and senior stakeholders on sustainability and climate-related topics.

Qualifications

Key Skills and Experience

You will have some knowledge, understanding and experience in the following areas:

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative sustainability and climate research, preferably in an investment context, with previous experience in using and developing climate-related analytics and frameworks. This includes physical and transition risk, the tools and frameworks to assess these risks, and management of these risks in an investment context.
  • Knowledge and experience of MSCI sustainability and climate tools and/or other climate data providers is preferable.
  • Understanding of different sustainability and climate frameworks, regulation and government policies in the EU and UK. This includes understanding of climate-related reporting applying to financial institutions, such as the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) and the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).
  • Broad understanding or experience of the asset and wealth management industry and the different challenges sustainability and climate change poses for client portfolios.
  • Familiarity with the key investment sectors required for the low-carbon transition and the policy and investment levers required to enable this transition.

Professional Qualifications and Education

  • Degree Educated
  • CFA Climate Investing certificate or relevant qualification in climate sciences would be an advantage

  • Influencing Stakeholders - manage various stakeholders to drive implementation of climate-related policies.

  • Client Focus – propose climate insights and solutions aligned to client outcomes

Networking - develop and maintain relevant external networks to provide industry perspectives on climate.
