The origin of Tech21 began when our Founder, Jason Roberts, took it upon himself to revolutionise the mobile phone protection industry all the way back in 2005.
Noticing that competitors in the industry were simply buying inexpensive materials off the shelf from mass production facilities in the Far East, he identified a unique impact absorbent material here in the UK and quickly realised that it had massive potential across a wide variety of applications.
From molecular recipes to lab-testing new material ingredients and formulations, everything we do with our material science is centred around developing the most advanced impact protection for the latest devices.
We believe our planet needs protecting just as much as people’s tech does, and from the material development stage through to manufacture, we keep sustainability at the heart of what we do, whether it’s our recyclable packaging or our lab-tested bio-spice innovations.
As we design all our products in-house, we are always looking for simpler, more sustainable, and just better ways of doing things. From multi functionality, camera shields, antimicrobial features and more, we’re always looking for ways to innovate.

Requirements
As Product Manager, you will be the owner of the Tech21 product categories. You will understand the performance of your products and work hard to grow the performance of product categories.
You will add rigor and a data led approach to help drive New Product Development from a category perspective. This will enable better and quicker decision making to speed up NPD delivery.
Working closely with the Category & Product Director, this role will provide a clear long term strategic vision and plans to drive transformation and growth in the business.
POSITION SPECIFICATION
- Has ownership of the Tech21 product categories.
- Makes informed product recommendations for up-coming launches, based on data and category insights.
- Understands consumer trends and use habits to guide product and feature recommendations.
- Reviewing competitors and markets to understand their features and Price Points.
- Understand the Retail and online landscape and how they offer product opportunities.
- Set NPD design briefs considering Features, Advantages & Benefits (FAB) and Product Propositions and kick-off Design projects.
- Identify target COGs for NPD projects to ensure project viability.
- With Finance, build and maintain a business plan for products.
- Work with Finance to evaluate and communicate the performance of the category on a regular basis (typically monthly). Adding a clear narrative to the performance and how that should guide next steps (So What? Now What?)
- Work with the Design team and partners to maintain an NPD funnel to deliver category growth.
- To become the authority of Tech21 product categories for the business.
- Support the Sales team, presenting to customers and feed learnings back into the business.
- Maintain and share a rolling Product Roadmap (products by device launch)
- Communicating category and project progress to internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor competitor activity and keep the business informed of developments in your category.
- Maintain relationships with OEM Partners eg. SMAPP & Google.
- Manage a team if / when the structure grows.
- Strive to develop robust Product & Category Management within Tech21.
- Support the delivery of projects in other categories when required.
SKILLS:
- Proven track record working in a global business with strong multi-cultural teams, fostering strong relationships, team spirit and culture.
- Advanced analytical skills, data-driven way of working, solution driven and results oriented.
- Provide a narrative and make clear recommendations based on research findings.
- Relevant professional experience in product information management, category management or business/product development.
- Strong project and/or portfolio management experience.
- Ability to manage concurrent projects.
- Experience of MS Project an advantage.
- Excellent organisation skills, to plan the use of people and resources to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Confident with communicating and presenting with external and internal customers at all levels.
- Experience working with dashboards to provide in-depth data and insight reports.
