We are looking for a highly motivated person with significant technical experience of working in the field of development control, highways safety or highways transportation.
Encompassing 12 district authority areas Lancashire County Council is the fourth largest local authority in England. Acting as both the Local Highway and Traffic Authority the County Council's Highways Service is responsible for maintaining the safe and effective use of its highways. As part of that role the Highway Service examines in excess of 5000 planning applications annually.
Representing the Council at a senior level the Development Control Engineer post holder will lead and manage a small technical team providing transport advice and support on highway development control matters to Local Planning Authorities, Developers and other stakeholders, delivering both pre-application highway advice and formal highway responses to planning consultations.
The role will involve attending meetings and undertaking site visits. Consequently the successful applicant will be required to hold a valid driving licence and will need to have a motor vehicle available for use on official journeys, which are reimbursed via expenses.

This post is a permanent full-time position (37 hours per week) with the primary office base at Bamber Bridge, although flexible working is available.
