Senior ICT Engineer/Designer, Preston (with remote/home working)
Salary £43,421 up to £48,474, Grade 10
Introduction:
Lancashire County Council's in-house Digital Services team have a vacancy for a ICT Engineer/Designer to continue their career in a dynamic, innovative department with over 450 staff.
This vacancy is in the Data Service Integrations Team which is responsible for the design, build, testing and implementation of bespoke integration services on a range of middleware platforms.
In addition to collaborating on wider LCC projects that require integrations with other enterprise applications, back-office systems and datasets, the team is responsible for delivering assured data sets extracted from a variety of source systems.

Candidate:
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who is eager to demonstrate and use their expertise in design and development, problem-solving and communication to play a vital part in the delivery of integration services. As this is a Senior role, you will be expected to take the direct lead on specific projects, become a technical specialist on the various tools we use and develop the skills of the less experienced members of the team.
You will be able to demonstrate existing skills or knowledge in the following areas:
- The production of technical designs
- Understanding of underlying business processes, data and data flows
- Familiarity with Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) concepts
- Understanding in applying security to data
- Knowledge of web services and APIs
- Awareness of building dataflows e.g. integration services to automate processes
- Knowledge of at least one programming language
- Use of the PL/SQL query language
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure data/technical fundamentals
Over and above this, you will have at least 2 years' experience of the following:
- Working with project managers, customers, and other technical teams in the successful delivery of projects
- Writing technical and customer-focused documentation for the implementation and ongoing support of ICT services
- Building solutions on an established integration toolset/platform
- Working with SQL Server databases (SQL Server Management studio)
