Are you ready for a new challenge?

Are you passionate about making a difference in people's lives? Do you want a job that offers full training and ongoing support? A job that is flexible to support your work life balance? A job that is also rewarding, where you can develop your career within Adult Social Care?

If you like the sound of the above then the Customer Access Service has the perfect job for you………

Several exciting opportunities have arisen to work as part of our Adult Social Care team within the Customer Access Service - the first point of contact for Lancashire County Council for both members of the public and professionals including Social Workers, Lancashire Police, GP Surgeries and the North West Ambulance Service.  You will be part of our busy service assisting the residents of Lancashire in accessing the many social care services the Council provides.

What is my role?

When you join us, your Customer Access journey will start with bespoke in-house training at our contact centre in Accrington.  We want to make sure that you feel comfortable and confident in giving the best possible service to the people of Lancashire and our training and ongoing support reflects this.  Following this initial training period you will be provided with equipment to work from home but will still be required to attend the office for training, team meetings and any other activities that benefit from face to face contact with colleagues. To work from home, you will require access to broadband.

You will be fully supported to develop the skills required to support our customers with various enquiries including domiciliary and residential care, respite, equipment needs within a person's own home or support requests for those with Learning Disabilities.

Using appropriate questioning techniques and tools designed to help you determine the right outcome for the customer, you may signpost customers who wish to self-fund care and equipment to local agencies or raise a new referral with information gathered from the caller.

Customers may also contact you to chase up or request amendments to their packages of care, to speak to their Social Worker or ask for advice.

You will also receive training to allow you to identify situations where a person may be at risk, including where the individual may be experiencing abuse or neglect.  You will clearly and accurately document the callers concerns before sharing this information with our dedicated   Safeguarding team for further investigation.

Social Care experience is not essential as your will receive full training, have access to our knowledge-based system and have a dedicated member of our team to support you as and when required whilst you learn, develop and gain experience in your new role.

Hours of work?

Our opening hours are 08:00am – 17:00pm Monday to Friday.  We are able to accommodate requests for full time or part time shift patterns throughout the week to suit your worklife balance, subject to business needs.

Please note, we have both permanent and temporary opportunities available.

We're Looking For Individuals who:

  • Are passionate about all aspects of customer service.
  • Display excellent communication skills.
  • Have the ability to actively listen to our customers whilst providing advice and guidance, addressing their concerns and resolving their enquiries.
  • Are highly proficient in the use of ICT systems.  Experience of working in a customer contact centre would be useful but is not essential and full training will be given.
  • Have a positive 'can-do' attitude.

Please feel free to contact us for an initial informal and confidential chat by calling Nicola Scholes on 01772 538097 or Sarah Dandy on 01254 220959.

In return Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, which can be found on LCC Vacancies website.

We reserve the right to close a vacancy early, before the closing date, if we receive sufficient applications.
