Provides all services associated with a retail optical dispensary including but not limited to: educating customers to the proper fit and adjustment to lenses, sales, inventory control and product promotion.
1. Assists customers in determining the best possible eyewear solution that is responsive to each customers needs.
2. Measures papillary distance in order to correctly center lenses.
3. Performs lensometry in order to confirm prescription, duplicate present glasses, verify prism and bifocal corrections. Assists in selection of spectacle frames and lenses.
4. Fits, confirms, adjusts, repairs and dispenses eyewear.
5. Monitors wait time for service and for goods ordered in order to improve customer service standards.
6. Maintains technical competency by participating in continuing education programs.
7. Orders and stocks supplies as needed according to guidelines and as approved by the optical dispensary manager.
8. Educates customers on proper fit and use of new lenses during adjustment phase including what to expect from their lenses.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Associates degree (A.A.) from two-year college or technical school in Ophthalmic Dispensing, OR have completed an approved two-year on-the-job training program under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmic dispenser, physician or optometrist.
3 years apprenticeship on-the-job training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
