Job Descrption

Training Coordinator II, Central Sterile Reprocessing, Mount Sinai West - Full Time, Day 

The SPD Training Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation and appraisal of the orientation, preceptorship programs and ongoing staff development of Medical Center personnel. Participates in the ongoing monitoring and revision of policies and procedures, appraisal of staff functions and execution of duties to determine educational programs; assists in research projects and studies associated with the department.

1.Demonstrates knowledge of the institution's service standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.

2.Demonstrates the ability to plan, develop, design and implement education and training programs and clinical workshops to improve team member competency including preparation, facilitation and follow-up.

3.Conducts or arranges for in-service training for departmental staff to keep staff informed of current trends in central service, regulatory agencies, public health education and the work of other agencies as related to the institution.

4.Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise in the day to day function of department.

5.Demonstrates the ability to collect and interpret statistical data on the progress and success of the educational programs based on productivity and quality performance reports, and utilizes the data to improve the department's competency performance.

6.Demonstrates the knowledge of managerial principles by consistently utilizing problem analysis, group dynamics and staff skills analysis in an objective manner.

7.Assists in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs for the department based on staff competency and established product sample rate, if applicable.

  • Completion of formal supervision principles, leadership education and/or the Certification in
  • Healthcare Leadership concepts
  • Certification on Adult Continuing Education
  • Certification in Healthcare Education Specialist by the National Healthcare Education
  • Certification in materials resources CMRP or IAHSCMMs materials management certification
  • Knowledge in Abacus Instrument Tracking System
  • 3+ years relevant clinical and training experience
