SUPERVISOR:
Manager or designee. 

SUMMARY:  
Ensure legal compliance with commercial driver's licensing requirements and overall Transportation training programs. Schedule and coordinate various Transportation examinations/tests and training courses and classes for Transportation Department personnel. Assist the Training and Recruiting Specialist with recruiting and hiring new employees. Set up and maintains files, databases, reports, and records, which contain confidential information. Monitor all Federal and State rules, regulations, and policies for compliance including: DOT, FMCSA, FMVSS, CDE, CDL, CPR/First Aid, and Crisis Intervention Prevention.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job. Duties and assignments may be located at any of our four (4) locations. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.

  • Enter electronic data, audit, ensure compliance with requirements, and maintain confidential employment records of district personnel, driver qualification files, and training records, including districtwide licensing/permit programs, Department of Transportation (DOT), and commercial driver’s license testing records. [Daily, 20%]
  • Schedule and coordinate written and practical Federal and State license examinations, CPR/First Aid/AED classes and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI). Ensure legal compliance with commercial driver’s licensing requirements and overall transportation training programs. [Daily, 20%]
  • Oversee districtwide onsite random drug and alcohol testing, including coordination with drug testing company regarding testing dates, concerns, and notification of employees regarding testing times. Set up and maintain files and records concerning testing, Clearinghouse, and FMCSA drug and alcohol requirements. [Daily, 15%]
  • Coordinate, set up, and maintain files including: Non-CDL/type-A, van driver/small-vehicle operator, and all training and compliance. [Daily, 10%]
  • Maintain reports and database on vehicle accidents. [Daily, 5%]
  • Assist with student injury reports and red light violations. [Daily, 5%]
  • Support the Training and Recruiting Specialist with the recruiting process by posting vacancies and evaluating and recommending applicants from the applicant pool. Monitor the hiring process to verify that district policy and legal requirements are satisfied. [Weekly, 5%]
  • Work with Risk Management to ensure the Transportation Department worker’s compensation injury and accident documentation are processed. [Monthly, 5%]
  • Schedule and maintain calendars and coordinate the following: in-service annual training, CPR/First Aid/AED classes, CPI classes, accident review committee, crossing guard program, bus evacuations, “Buster the Bus” safety program, and student safety programs. [Quarterly, 5%]
  • Pull Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) twice a year. [Annually, 5%]
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%] 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Designing, leading, or facilitating training programs or transportation industry safety experience.
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
  • Typing proficiency of 50 WPM.
  • Intermediate verbal and written communications skills.
  • Intermediate partnership building/teamwork skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in high volume work environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours and department location.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

  • Colorado driver’s license.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree or some college.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
