JOB SUMMARY: Assess and provide intervention to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Develops and promotes good relations among community and school clientele.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.
Ability to assess and provide intervention services to students who exhibit communication disorders which negatively impact their achievement as well as social functioning behavior (including articulation, receptive/expressive language, auditory processing, fluency, voice, written language and literacy), and monitor progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. [Daily, 50%]
Familiarity of diagnostic assessment practices to differentiate between language difference versus language disorder for Multilingual Learners [Yearly, 10%]
Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to special education students of all levels and abilities. [Yearly, 10%]
Strong classroom management, communication, organization and planning skills. [Daily, 5%]
Demonstrate problem-solving and collaboration skills with students, teachers, staff, special education teams, parents and administrators. [Daily, 5%]
Willing to support and actively participate in a professional learning community to positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of students [Weekly, 5%].
Demonstrate an ability to provide differentiated intervention (e.g. small group, individual services, co-teaching, push-in, trans-disciplinary models, etc.) to students with a range of communication needs (e.g. service cognitive delays, Autism Spectrum Disorders, learning disabilities, serious emotional disabilities, speech language eligible students, and other related speech/language needs). [Daily, 5%]
Knowledge of phonemic awareness and literacy interventions (i.e.; multi-sensory reading, reading comprehension, etc). [Daily, 5%]
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position
Master's degree
Student teaching/practicum/internship experience that meets or exceeds Colorado's requirements
Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
Basic organizational skills
Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills
Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
Ability to assume leadership in the development and communication of programs and curriculum
Ability and desire to work as a team member
Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
Ability to serve as a role model and an innovative and creative learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge that stays on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy
Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position
Hold a valid Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License.
Hold an active National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program) account and provide NPI and Health First Colorado account information to the Office of Human Resources and the District
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses
Proficiency in using technology.
