Job Descrption
The Chubb North American Marine team services several business units within Chubb with a diverse book of marine business involving commercial ocean marine cargo, inland marine transit, motor truck cargo legal liability, commercial hull, marine general liability, recreational marine, marina operator legal liability, builder’s risk and other transportation/warehousemen related claims.
This position manages pending inventory and daily workflow of incoming first and third-party claims while ensuring high customer service levels and compliance with best practices are being met. The position requires the analysis of a broad number of marine coverages.
***This role operates on a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) and must sit any of the listed office locations.
Responsibilities include:
- Interpret and apply policy contract coverage on simple to complex matters.
- Analyze first reports to determine nature, cause, and extent of loss.
- Promptly and properly develop the claim file to provide accurate and timely investigations and loss analysis.
- Maintain an active diary to achieve timely development of file.
- Timely disposition of the claim.
- Recognize recovery where possible.
- Adhere to all statutory regulations and unfair claim practices acts.
- Effectively communicate with all internal and external customers.
- Direct, manage, and supervise surveyors, investigators, experts, and attorneys subject to established guidelines and procedures.
- Overnight Travel: < 25%
- 3-5 years of Marine claims experience.
- A background in marine surveying, recreational marine claims adjudication or an understanding of marine (boat & yacht) repairs is beneficial, but not required.
- High level of competency with common workplace computer technology – e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education is recommended.
- Advanced level of demonstrated knowledge and skill in the following areas: investigation techniques; written and verbal communication related to claims handling; insurance contracts; legal requirements and regulations; damage and/or loss evaluation; negotiations; industry trends; litigation procedures, reserving, and time management skills.
