ABOUT THE COMPANY
The Business Assurance group of Intertek provides a full range of business process audit and support solutions, including accredited third-party management systems auditing and certification, second-party supplier auditing, sustainability data verification, process performance analysis, and IRCA-registered auditor training. BA helps clients by sharing best practices and new industry requirements and assessing their performance against their own objectives.
ABOUT YOU
As a Technical Director, this role plays a crucial supporting function across the entire Business Assurance division. It involves maintaining oversight of all technical, quality, and competency-based excellence throughout the business.
Required skills and experience
Expertise in ISO/IEC 17021 / ISO/IEC 17065 frameworks, Supplier Management schemes, Corporate Social Responsibility audits, Management System Certification, Food Safety and Quality, and Ethical Audit Delivery
Over 10 years combined experience in relevant work environment e.g. design, implementation and continual improvement of a range of supplier management schemes; system assessments and certifications, standards development and audit
Extensive travel commitment for training and alignment in Intertek GMS processes, supporting UKAS assessment activity as required
Strong organizational skills and leadership skills
Understanding of budgets/P&L
Knowledgeable in UK Labour laws, Health and Safety regulations, and privacy laws
Demonstrable experience in working to tight deadlines for significant assignments, prioritising workload effectively, multitasking and managing conflicting priorities
Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholder groups (Accreditation Bodies, standard owners, etc.)
Degree or equivalent (beneficial)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Technical Director, you will directly report to the Business Line Leader.
Key activities:
Act as the main UKAS contact, overseeing and promoting Intertek Business Assurance Group's accreditation, and manage UKAS requirements for the network
Collaborate with the Global Technical Management & Quality team
Oversee new accredited schemes
Maintain technical and quality integrity of the Intertek Certification Global Management System policies and procedures as operated by the Global Technical Management & Quality team and the Business Assurance network of the accredited office, hubs, and feeder countries
Ensure consistency in decision-making, proposal review, technical evaluation, and certification processes
Manage people, providing guidance, coaching, and feedback on technical and interpersonal capabilities
Provide ultimate oversight of all accreditation and industry program approvals
Oversee auditor and subcontractor competencies, ensuring effective training programs
Maintain auditor quality and qualifications to meet business demands
Lead resolution of escalated customer complaints, monitor client complaint data, and recommend improvement actions
Support training and maintenance of a technically competent team, participate in global account planning
Deliver detailed audits of client premises, management systems, and practices against pre-determined standards
Act as Client Manager for key accounts, ensuring a consistent approach to audit programs
Maintain skills and knowledge relevant to technical disciplines, driving a culture of continuous operational excellence and Kaizen process improvement
Home - based. Travelling to clients across the UK and office locations in Milton Keynes and Derby as needed. Full Time. Permanent.
