Role description:

This role suits applicants with a passion for sustainability, in particular energy and carbon management, as well as the relevant experience and qualifications.  You will be joining a fast growing and dynamic team focussed on the management of sustainability services, in particular energy and carbon management, on major infrastructure projects within our Rail Consultancy business unit.

Our aim is to achieve a leading energy and carbon management service that enables clients and the design and construction supply chain to achieve their energy optimisation and decarbonisation objectives.  At the core of this is the quantification of energy and carbon emissions and production of lifecycle assessments, leveraging the application of digital tools and systems. However, your role will encompass a number of other key accountabilities that are crucial to the creation of proactive, efficient and high impact service delivery.  

Role accountabilities:

  • Review and analyse energy data and report it in the required formats
  • Provide expert energy efficiency advice and guidance to teams and individuals concerned with the delivery of capital projects and operational infrastructure
  • Production of project carbon baseline, including identification and sourcing of all required input data
  • Collaborating with and assessing carbon saving opportunities with project management and design / engineering communities 
  • Production of project carbon benchmarking, including identification and sourcing of all required input data 
  • Production of digital dashboard reports
  • Integration of carbon management data, analyses and performance information in programme controls and all associated data collection and reporting
  • Support with the management of relationships and collaborations with clients and external stakeholders, in order to help achieve high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Reporting writing, in particular lifecycle assessment reports
  • Period progress reports and presentations
  • Participating in internal and external audits (e.g. PAS 2080) and assurance 
  • Share knowledge and contribute to service development, in order to continually improve client experience
  • Production of technical materials for pursuits
  • Share knowledge and contribute to internal training material development and implementation
  • Line management of team members
  • Assist in the coaching and development of other team members in order to share knowledge and grow capabilities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholder and participate in various carbon and sustainability forums 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in delivering energy reduction initiatives within large complex organisations 
  • Experience in the use of the RSSB Rail Carbon Tool to drive carbon reduction opportunities
  • Carbon baselining 
  • Carbon benchmarking
  • Lifecycle assessment (LCA) production experience
  • Minimum 2 years use of carbon footprinting / quantification tools and other LCA methodologies.
  • PAS 2080 specification knowledge and experience of participation in minimum of one audit
  • Desirable: PowerBi dashboard report production

Key Qualifications:

  • Lifecycle assessment practitioner, including familiarity and use of ISO 14040 and 14044
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Relevant professional qualification or chartered status
  • Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (Associate or Practitioner level)
