Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced, dynamic Senior Engineer to take on a national leadership role for sustainable drainage and integrated water management in England and Wales. The role will encompass SuDS strategies and designs, nutrient neutrality studies/mitigations, water cycle studies, surface water management plans and these agendas' interface with the management of flood risk and sustainable water resources for people and the environment.

  Role accountabilities:

Our growing team is tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the water sector. From addressing nutrient neutrality to unlock growth for homes and businesses to climate change adaptation for too much or too little water. You will be given the opportunity to work with our technical experts, clients and stakeholders to develop truly innovative and sustainable solutions.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader experienced in a wide and varied portfolio of projects, accountable for business development, co-ordinating delivery and quality control. Operating in a diverse marketplace, this role offers excellent opportunities to deploy your technical knowledge and grow our sustainable drainage and integrated water management portfolio. 

  • Technical lead for a range of water management projects - e.g., drainage strategies/ SuDS designs, nutrient neutrality studies/mitigations, water cycle studies, surface water management plans and FRAs
  • Project management including contracts, invoicing, client management etc.
  • Supporting bids, tenders and value propositions including preparing, contributing to, and reviewing commercial and technical aspects of bids
  • Responsibility for technical quality and quality assurance of project deliverables
  • Building relationships with clients
  • Liaising with project directors, technical directors, and other design/technical disciplines to work collaboratively across sectors and ensure the integrity of our work
  • Guiding the development of the team through technical advice and mentoring and supporting their professional development programmes
Qualifications & Experience:
  • An experienced professional within the water management sector, with a good understanding of regulatory and planning policy and processes (including flood risk and the water environment)
  • Strong technical knowledge of SuDS, wetlands, and nature-based solutions (particularly on a strategic / catchment scale)
  • Experience of working on master planning and infrastructure projects
  • Ability to manage programme and commercial aspects of projects
  • Ability to lead others in the delivery of projects
  • Desired: experience of nutrient neutrality/water cycle studies and environmental impact assessments
  • Chartered status with an appropriate body (CIWEM, ICE)
  • Degree in a relevant subject
