This Technician II position will be responsible for Formula Verification in our Automotive division as part of our OE Interior Color Team. Activities to include paint preparation, color and gloss adjustments, application, quality control testing and ensuring that the formula meets product line rule sets, quality standards, manufacturing requirements and customer specifications.
• Functions with supervision.
• Contributes to the execution of experiments, records observations, draws conclusions.
• Performs basic paint-formulation calculations, makes paint samples, applies paint samples, and understands and can accurately perform tests to customer/industry specifications.
• Operates basic equipment.
• Responsible for inputting data and technical documentation in lab book on a daily basis.
• Possesses ability to analyze data.
• Writes basic reports outlining procedures used and results obtained.
• Verbally communicates routine information to supervisor and others on team.
• Is receptive and attentive to instructions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to determine the difference between colors so you can correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with scientific principles, products and/or processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 1+ years of experience in a paint laboratory.
• Technical understanding and knowledge in industrial chemistries
• Experience working with solvent-based and waterborne coatings, both solid shades and metallics, over plastic substrates.
• Coatings lab equipment knowledge
• Coatings spray-application knowledge
Travel Requirements: 5%
Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in Q4 2024. Until then, the role will be based at the Warrensville Technical Center, located at 4440 Warrensville Center Rd Warrensville Heights, OH 44128.
