PCT Progressive Care Unit Full Time Nights Position Summary
Under the direction of the Nurse, performs sub-professional duties including providing patient care to meet the needs of activities of daily living; operation and maintenance of equipment. Takes and records vital signs and I/Os. Assists licensed staff and physicians as directed within approved standards. Performs other related duties as directed. Assumes the responsibility for meeting the basic needs of all patients assigned. Provides care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise indicated. Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals. Provides quality care according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned. Must be willing/able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed. Performs and coordinates the clerical and public relations functions for the unit, as well as coordinating patient services and tests provided by the other ancillary hospital departments; acts as unit receptionist receiving and directing visitors. Assumes the responsibility for correctly transcribing orders on all patients assigned. Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals. Provides quality work according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned. Must be willing/able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed.
THE PCT PROGRESSIVE CARE UNIT FULL TIME NIGHTS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of six months of work experience preferred.
Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: CNA, and/or completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited Nursing Curriculum with the intention to complete a nursing degree required. American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required.
The Nurse Tech assists in the care of patients and in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patients and staff. May function as the unit secretary, responsible for correct and timely order transcription, maintenance of the medical record, inventory management, and clerical duties as assigned.
A pleasant, reassuring atmosphere is provided for patients and families. All patients are treated with respect while maintaining their privacy and confidentiality. Patient rounds are performed at ordered intervals, as defined by the patient population, to ensure adequate supplies are available, the patient is comfortable, and the call bell is within reach. Catheters and collection devices are emptied each shift or as necessary, and characteristics/volume are reported. Assists in Indirect Patient Care Functions and transport. Transcribes physicians' orders in a timely manner.
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Preferred: 6 months of related experience.
Certifications:
Required: CNA certification in current state. AHA BLS.
