The hospital EMR Coach under direct supervision from the Market Clinical Informatics Director and according to established policies and procedures functions as an electronic medical record (EMR) system expert and is primarily responsible for training clinicians to efficiently use the Cerner EMR and to proactively provide at the elbow support to clinicians throughout the hospital. The EMR Coach will at times assist in the implementation, support, and optimization of the EMR and other clinical systems.
The EMR Coach is responsible for purposeful hospital rounding; providing direct support to providers and nurses to ensure end users successfully integrate the EMR into clinical workflow. The EMR Coach ensures consistent and effective use of the EMR that aligns with policy, procedure, and standards. The EMR Coach may at times create education content to communicate and educate providers and clinicians in EMR changes, initiatives, and projects.
The EMR Coach regularly provides suggestions and seeks feedback from physicians and clinicians regarding the EMR communicating such information to the Market Clinical Informatics Director.
The EMR Coach collaborates with the Market Clinical Informatics Director to improve physician and clinicians’ satisfaction with the EMR, promote “voice of the customer” and improve IS service and support.

Functions as the informatics coordinator of value realization programs such as Meaningful Use and other regulatory and quality initiatives.
Performs analysis of current processes and new/existing technologies in order to assist in the management and processing of data, information and knowledge to support clinical practice and the delivery of patient care.
Collaborates with clinicians and organizational leaders to identify data/information reporting needs, collect necessary data, analyze data and identify trends to improve organizational performance and clinical outcomes.
Acts as the “Subject Matter Expert” responsible for providing insight into department operational and clinical processes and uses clinical process knowledge to integrate application use into those clinical processes.
Utilizes a comprehensive ongoing approach to address workflow optimization and adoption.
Assists in the development of a communication plan and participates in communication activities related to clinical systems to all stakeholders.
Participates in the design of the clinical application education program and is responsible for the accuracy of the training content.
Uses a systems focus to contribute to clinical process discussions and works to achieve system-wide consensus.
Minimum: At least three years of experience working as a licensed/certified clinical professional in a clinical setting. Bachelor’s degree in a clinical specialty, information technology, or related field. Two to three years recent healthcare clinical informatics or clinical applications analyst experience. Experience with implementing clinical applications across a project life cycle, including planning, designing, testing, educating and supporting functions.
Strongly Preferred: Current clinical licensure/certification in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, or other ancillary clinical disciplines. Prior experience with Cerner solutions is an advantage. Organizational workflow experience. Demonstrated success in working with change management. Experience with or willingness to speak in front of audiences in order to train or educate, as well as comfort with giving one-on-one support to clinical end-users.
