Security Shift Supervisor FT Days Position Summary
Oversees shift operations of security at assigned facility. Keeps leadership apprised of any potential security problems. Assists with development and enforcement of security policies and procedures. Develops a good working relationship with local law enforcement authorities. Assists medical staff with insuring patient safety. Prepares security reports as needed. Conducts drills. Monitors alarms and cameras. Conducts investigations, Monitors ILSM issues regarding construction project. Reviews records of employee vehicle registration for accuracy.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to read, write and understand the English Language; Strong leadership skills; Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; Ability to de-escalate tense situations; Exceptional customer service skills; Ability to lead security investigations; and Ability to handle stressful situations.
SUPERVISES: Security Staff
THE SECURITY SHIFT SUPERVISOR FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma, or equivalent (i.e. GED)
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associates Degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years in law enforcement/security or 6 years in law enforcement/security in lieu of degree

Assists in the setup of weekly guard schedule; monitor assignment of overtime; initiate needed changes to cover unscheduled absences. Supervise subordinates so they perform their functions effectively. Evaluate and document subordinate’s performance. Investigate campus security incidents; prepare appropriate reports and/or reviews and oversees corrections to subordinate’s incident reports. Interpret applicable policies and procedures based on existing circumstances. Watches for, and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility, and safety hazards, and emergenciesie. Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators/ approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate. Quickly identify potential negative situations, implements effective countermeasures, and adjust security posts/assignments as circumstances warrant. Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned post. Teaches facility-specific procedures and policies. Responds to medical emergenciesand fire alarms, and directs security personnel as needed. Provides general information at roll calls. Ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations while implementing security measures. Acts as Incident Commander until additional command resources arrive during a crisis. Assists in conducting shift-based drills to ensure security personnel readiness. Drills include, but are not limited to, de-escalation, CPI, NCI, physical techniques, use of force, active shooter, etc.
Education:
Required: Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Required: 3 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military discipline; or equivalent training which might include criminal justice, homeland security, or law enforcement academy.
Preferred: 3 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military discipline to include 2 years of supervisory experience or progressively increased responsibility around supervisory-type duties; or equivalent training which might include criminal justice, homeland security, or law enforcement academy to include 2 years of supervisory experience or progressively increased responsibility around supervisory-type duties.
Certifications:
Required: Licensure/certification as required by state law. Valid state driver's license. AHA BLS.
