GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assists the pharmacists in the daily activities of the pharmacy. Duties include cart fill, stock replenishment, purchasing, IV admixture, hourly deliveries, and interactions with other departments. All technician functions are under the supervision of a Florida licensed pharmacist and in accordance with state and federal law.
REQUIREMENT:
High School diploma or GED equivalent,
Current Florida Pharmacy Technician or Intern State License.
1 Year of Hospital Experience Preferred.

This individual’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner. Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner. Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately. Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records. Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins. Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing. Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas. Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications. Deliver medications to patient care areas. Attend to medication requests and phone calls. Prepare complex IV admixtures (i.e., chemotherapy, biotherapy) accurately, consistent with IV policies and procedures (USPless than797> and USPless than800>). Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures. Assist in performing various duties as assigned.
Education:Required: High school graduate or equivalent
Experience:Required: 3 years of pharmacy experience
Preferred: 2 years of hospital experience
Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician certification, as required by state law. Accredited training in sterile products preparation and IV Admixture Certification
Physical Demands:Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position.
