AirCare EMT Driver, Ground Transports (Wilkes Base), 12 Hour Nights
JOB SUMMARY: Works as a driver and member of the Critical Care Transport teams, transferring patients between facilities. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle, including maintenance of mission ready status, obeying laws and regulations of the highway as well as the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services. Assists transport nurses with the physical component of patient transfer.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma and one year experience driving emergency vehicles. Previous hospital experience required.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician certification or higher, North Carolina Class C driver's license, Driver's Training Course (EVOC or CEVO).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Promotes the safe and supportive transport environment for all passengers in the transport vehicle. 2. Practices professional and courteous conduct in accordance with the five key values of the institution and the expectations of the AirCare leadership. 3. Meets guidelines to satisfy regulatory requirements of NCOEMS. 4. Meets patient care guidelines as well as family and patient psychosocial and physical needs to optimize recovery. 5. Conserves and maximizes utilization of resources. 6. Utilizes knowledge of age/developmental specific care needs during emergency response or when utilizing emergency equipment (vehicle).
