Job Title: Assistant Stock Accountant
Location: Head Office, Leicestershire
Salary: £31,000 - £39,000 plus bonus & benefits
This is an outstanding opportunity to join our Stock Finance team based out of our Head Office in Leicestershire
You will report directly to the Stock Finance Manager, working alongside 3 team members within Stock Finance. You will be responsible for the accounting of Next and 3rd Party Stock from origin (overseas) to our warehouses. The role will also be responsible for currency valuations on bought stock as well as Agent commission and Wholesaling stock.
As part of the role you will also work closely with the rest of the stock finance team to build and improve processes.
Role Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include accounting for all of Next and 3rd party stock at origin as well as accounting for all of Next and 3rd party stock in transit (currently on a Ship, Plane or Train). There is a Balance Sheet for every movement the stock makes.
You will have responsibility for the recharging of ownership for stock between Next and 3rd Parties as well as accounting of wholesale stock and invoicing wholesale partners.
Your remit will also include reconciling the stock from origin into multiple UK based warehouses, analysing currency variances, between hedged currencies to a spot rate for stock purchases.
You will also analyse the slippage variance for cost of the stock coupled with working with our legal team on any product related claims as well as analysing the commission payable from Next and 3rd Parties and working with our accounts payable team to ensure they get paid.
You’ll also work closely with our external auditors and freight forwarders on verifying our closing stock in transit balances for Next and 3rd Parties.
About you:
Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in a commercial finance role and ideally part - qualified in ACA,ACCA or CIMA.
Strong analytical skills including using Excel and other systems to examine data. SQL knowledge is preferred but not essential.
Demonstrable audit experience combined with experience of accruals, payments and reconciliations is essential.
Strong communications skills- not be afraid to pick up the phone and speak to contacts around the business, and enjoy the challenge of investigating and resolving discrepancies
