About the Accounting Team
The OB Accounting Team handles an array of tasks including inventory accounting for our retail stores and warehouses, accounts receivable, and sales tender reconciliation. Our team works closely with GL Accounting and Brand/Supply Chain Finance Teams as well as many other groups accross the WSI organization. Our responsibility is to record and reconcile WSI financial transactions while ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Overview of the Senior Accountant role
This individual will be responsible for the entities of Williams Sonoma as part of the accounting organization in Olive Branch, MS. Major responsibilities will include reconciliation of general ledger accounts, sub-ledgers, interfaces, and associated due diligence, research and analysis to determine required journal entries or other necessary actions. Support of various audits, SOX requirements and statutory reporting will be a major part of this role. The Staff Accountant will report to and work closely with the Manager of Accounting. Strong communication skills, a collaborative style and robust analytical and technical capabilities will be required in order to be successful.

Responsibilities
- Preparation and processing of month-end journal entries
- Preparation of assigned account reconciliations, journal entries, support documentation, etc.
- Establish business partnerships with Accounting/Finance Teams, as well as outside teams as needed in order to gain a thorough understanding of the transaction flows, intercompany impacts, accounting and audit requirements for purposes of ensuring complete and accurate accounting for complexities of the business
- Assist with audit requests
- Recognize process improvement opportunities and make recommendations to improve quality, timeliness and accuracy of transactions and business flows
- Participate in business and system projects that impact accounting
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures
- Special projects as assigned.
Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (4-year degree).
- 1-3 years accounting experience required
- Strong technical/systems skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Strong analytical skills. Project management experience a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Self-directed, critical thinker able to work independently.
- Knowledge of large corporate accounting programs.
- Ability to analyze data and produce reports to assist operations and management
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

The expected starting pay range for this position is $72,000 – $82,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
