Job Descrption

Role: Database Research Assistant

Grade and Salary: Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum

FTE and working pattern: 1 FTE, 35hrs per week, Monday - Friday

Holiday Entitlement: 28 days annual leave plus 9 buildings closed days (and Christmas Eve when it falls on a weekday)

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Undertaking, reviewing, and streamlining where appropriate departmental process re. data cleaning within our CRM 
  • Analyse alumni and donor data within our CRM Raiser’s Edge and present actionable insight to colleagues specifically around e-marketing activity 
  • Support the delivery of mass email campaigns by designing email, segmenting lists and monitoring unsubscribes and responses whilst communicating to our alumni and stakeholders. 
  • Support DAO’s research function by creating biographical briefings for colleagues, conduct basic due diligence as part of our ethical gift acceptance process and rate prospective donors on their philanthropic interests and capacity to give. 
  • Scope and create reporting to support effective stewardship and decision making 
  • Support the financial administration around processing donations 
  • Maintain our website pages and update content using university CMS 
  • Gatekeep the quantity of communications being sent to alumni using communication schedules, audience breakdowns and quality checks. 
  • Create surveys and update alumni records with contact and preference data from multiple sources. 
  • Maintain high quality database records for graduates to enable Graduate Outcomes returns and ensure good data quality for our alumni programme.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

Essential

  1. Literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to SCQF Level 5 (Standard Grade Intermediate/Credit or similar. 
  2. Experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and experience of working with database systems. 
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills: in person, over the telephone, in written and electronic correspondence. 
  4. Ability to communicate appropriately and establish a working relationship with a range of people from a variety of backgrounds. 
  5. Demonstrable provision of excellent customer service. 
  6. Able to keep accurate records and prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure. 
  7. Willingness to support the team with requests in addition to own workload. 

Desirable

  1. Educated to SCQF Level 6 (Highers) or equivalent qualification 
  2. Experience of working within a similar environment as outlined above 
  3. Knowledge of Development and Alumni Relations in a university setting 
  4. Experience with Blackbaud products (Raiser’s Edge) 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  1. Ability and willingness to learn new digital skills and capabilities appropriate to your role and how it evolves
  2. Understand and adhere to information security practices particularly as it relates to personal or sensitive information
  3. Maintain awareness of my own digital wellbeing by being mindful of the length of time spent at a screen and the impact on mental and physical health in using digital technologies.
