- Input into client proposals for biodiversity advisory services and assessments of large and complex developments, often in collaboration with other disciplines and our Natural Capital team.
- Undertaking field surveys across a range of project sites throughout Scotland (including the Highlands and Islands).
- Undertaking BNG calculations using Biodiversity Metric 3.1 (and other client specific BNG toolkits) using Phase 1 habitat survey or UKHab survey data.
- Input into a range of ecological deliverables including: BNG assessment reports, habitat management plans, strategic BNG plans, GIS shapefiles.
- Undertaking literature reviews and preparing research reports.
- Client liaison and project management.
- Developing habitat creation plans to enhance biodiversity.
- An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and are member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management at an appropriate level (mentoring is available for upgrade to Full Membership).
- Experience and understanding of: UKHab habitat types and terminology; use of Metrics to undertake biodiversity net gain assessment. Botanical field skills desirable.
- Knowledge of relevant policy and legislation and differing approaches to BNG assessment.
- Experience of co-ordinating ecological projects, include awareness of budget control.
- Good GIS skills.
- The ability to work in a team of ecologists and environmental professionals.
- A desire to develop your core ecological and consultancy skills in a supportive environment.
- Experience of habitat creation and preparation of habitat management plans. Knowledge of peatland restoration desirable.
