As part of the WSP’s Rail Station team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and prestigious projects in the world. WSP is currently involved in numerous HS2. Network Rail, Transport for London projects which will reshape the landscape of the rail industry and leave a legacy for the century to come.

Although a part of multi-disciplinary Rail consultancy, the MEP team are a tight-knit group, working closely to deliver some of the largest and most complex buildings in the world.

 

The Stations team within WSP’s Rail business are actively seeking an Associate Director MEP to lead teams delivering MEP Building Services at site for a new Railway Station in London.

The role includes all aspects of technical delivery during RIBA 4 (iii)/ RIBA 5 Construction stage, client engagement and internal multi-disciplinary co-ordination. The team offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate to enhance their career and deliver some of the most prestigious Rail Stations Projects in the UK.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Leading Rail stations MEPFC design team during Construction stage.
  • Lead the response to M&E Contractors’ RFI and TQs.
  • Become focal point between the Construction Team and the WSP Design team.
  • Resolve MEP design issues during construction phase.
  • Review, comment and approve M&E contractor’s procurement proposals in line with the Consultant RIBA 4 design intent.
  • Review, comment and approve M&E contractor’s RIBA 5 Detailed / Installation drawings and documents.
  • Working closely with M&E contactors to resolve design issues.
  • Working knowledge of the design of Rail stations Mechanical, Electrical and Public health systems. Added advantage of working knowledge of Telecoms and Fire systems. • Requires working knowledge of compliance requirements to Building Regulations, Part L and other MEP sustainable and Net Zero design requirements.
  • Realise WSP’s and our client net zero carbon commitments and ambitions by delivering highly sustainable, low carbon design.
  • Become part of the wider WSP business by sharing knowledge and technical skills with colleagues from around the globe.Work in an environment that allows you to use your own initiative with support from specific specialist experience to
  • deliver high-quality construction engineering solutions • Supervise the completion of detailed Installation designs and supervise the work of others in this function, whilst maximising joint learning opportunities for the wider business
  • Interpretation of client specification requirements in the development of designs
  • Be predominately site based.
  • Discuss and agree instructions for additional work.
  • Raise contractual communications such as Early Warnings to the Contractor.

YOUR TEAM

  • You will work closely with like-minded individuals on exciting and challenging projects. • Rail Station MEP team consist of more than 70 mechanical, electrical and Public Health Engineers.
  • You will join a team of professionally qualified, diverse, talented individuals who collaborate to:
  • Undertake project work from across the design lifecycle, including early concept stage to detail design
  • Deliver projects for Network Rail, HS2, TfL, Transport for The North, TfGM, Nexus, Local Authorities, Principal Contractors and Private Developers

Reporting to MEP Service Lead of our stations team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting a challenging multi-disciplinary Rail stations projects around the world. We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of leading MEPFC building services design team in the Rail environment during Construction stage
  • Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution
  • Understanding of:
    • requirements of HS2, Network Rail and/or London Underground standards
    • M&;E Building services installation requirements in Rail or similar regulated environment
    • Working with M&E contractors at site during Detailed design / construction stage
