Long Distance Transfer Driver – North (Funeralcare)
£23,400 FTE, £12,480 pro rata plus excellent benefits
20 hours per week with full flexibility required to travel out of hours, possibly including overnight stays and weekends where required (which you’d be reimbursed financially for)
Covering the North – Leeds, Sheffield, and Barnsley with driving across mainland UK
We’re looking for a long-distance transfer (LDT) driver to join our Co-op Funeralcare team. As market leaders, we’ve a reputation for providing a caring and compassionate service when families need it most, and you’ll play a key part in helping us to achieve this.
In this role, you’ll take responsibility for the collection of and transfer of the deceased coming into our care. You’ll transfer to and from either third-parties airports, or Funeralcare care centres, ensuring accuracy and managing the paperwork trail (electronically in most cases). You’ll be working in a role requiring high levels of care and attention, customer service and autonomy where no two days will be the same.
What you’ll do
• undertake driving duties anywhere in the UK, within the EU drive time directive
• maintain your vehicle to the highest of standards, as well as representing the Co-op in a professional and dignified manner
• transport the deceased, by way of coffin or stretcher, or cremated remains as required, with care into and out of your vehicle
• apply the highest attention to detail on ensuring accuracy, checking, and logging identification documentation as required, in line with processes
• make sure stocks of PPE are replenished
• communicate clearly with your wider team and coordinator, logging any issues clearly and in a timely manner
This role would suit people who have
• a full UK drivers’ licence with a passion for driving
• a high level of flexibility, being dependable and accountable
• the confidence to work on your own
• detailed and accurate with the ability to follow policy and procedures to a high level
• professional, approachable, and friendly with an empathetic approach
• comfortable using IT systems including a smart phone and tablet
Why Co-op?
As a Funeralcare colleague, you’ll do work that matters in an organisation where principles are just as important as profits. You’ll also get a fantastic package including:
• 23 days holiday (pro rata, rising with service)
• a pension with up to 10% employer contributions
• access to wellbeing support and other benefits
• discounts on Co-op products and services
• exclusive discounts and offers from a huge range of retailers
