Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Study Manager, Oil & Gas who is a Pre-FEED focused Project Manager to grow our Consulting Team based in Staines, or Aberdeen. We recognise the value of remote and hybrid working so are open to applications throughout the UK.
The Role
This role will take responsibility for the Oil & Gas and Energy Transition Studies services across our EMEA region. The principal objectives are advising clients, investors, and asset owners on making the right investment decisions for their projects or assets within the Upstream and Midstream markets. This is a key position which leads a portfolio of Front-End studies to bring the best of Wood and industry experience to the earliest phases of project development.
The remit of the Oil & Gas Studies team is to win and execute studies such as due diligence, technology, feasibility, concept select and pre-FEED. The Oil & Gas Studies team makes use of the global Wood resources network to deliver the highest standard of early phase solution.
The Study manager is a multi-disciplinary leader with a passion for growing a business in the front-end market. You will have a strong appreciation of process design and an interest in the holistic aspects of Greenfield and Brownfield projects. You will grow your career through taking commercial and client stakeholder management responsibility for delivering all pre-FEED phases of project implementation.
Focusing on predictable project delivery against key internal and external metrics of cost, schedule and quality, you will steer your project team to develop the technoeconomic solutions that guide them to successfully achieve the next stage in their decision gate process.
You will interface with a multi-disciplinary team of highly capable Subject Matter Experts and Consultants to deliver best in class solutions that will ensure high customer satisfaction. This will lead to opportunities for further advancement of your career in multiple directions. Through this you will support your own personal growth, and that of our Consulting business, as we deliver global solutions for sustainable Energy Security and Transition.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Wood’s front-end tools and processes
- Drive continual digital advancement of Wood’s Front-End tools and processes to bring the best of Wood’s delivery in an increasingly efficient manner
- Work closely with programme managers and business development teams to market, identify, pursue and secure front-end studies in the upstream, midstream Oil & Gas and Energy Transition markets
- Collaborate across business units regional and globally as required to achieve objectives
- Actively participate in key industry events and thought-leadership opportunities to highlight Wood’s value
- Assign the appropriate study managers and study team members to ensure project delivery excellence
- Coach, mentor and develop colleagues in adopting the early project development mindset
- Ensure successful delivery of studies in line with SOW and client expectations
- Be an active member of the Oil & Gas EMEA Leadership team, supporting the development and delivery of the strategy including financial targets and people engagement initiatives
The key objectives for this role are:
- To be the face of our Studies business; Grow and nurture the study teams across Europe Middle East and Africa region into a single, high performing body recognised as the go to for all concept and front-end solutions. row the business; develop on existing client relationships and find new clients
- Develop compelling and competitive proposals that readily demonstrate to Clients the best way to deliver their project
- Oversee all aspects of project management and delivery of pre-FEED scopes of work in accordance with the contract whilst managing project risk profile and change
- Develop and manage strong customer relationships, ensuring Wood is the Client’s contractor of choice for future phases; work to develop opportunities for Wood in subsequent phases or parallel activities
- Interface internally across all business units to ensure Wood Consultancy is the home of the world’s leading advisory and front-end technical solutions
- Manage and lead the project team to achieve the health, safety, environmental, schedule, cost and quality requirements of the study

Expected:
- Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering Discipline or Science
- Commercial awareness of project delivery
- Previous experience in oil & gas upstream industry, or energy transition preferably within an engineering consulting organisation
- Understands the levels of detail required to support the early phase decision making process for Pre-FEED Experienced in chairing meetings and facilitating workshops
- A proven leader, capable of motivating and leading multi-disciplined and multi-cultural teams, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive culture
- An exceptional communicator able to build collaboration and influence stakeholders, bringing clients and peers on your journey to deliver the best of Wood
- Thinks strategically, takes decisions and delivers results
- Must have full right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer or Scientist
- Member of an appropriate professional institution
- Some level of qualification from Association of Project Management or similar
- Commercial exposure through responsible positions in Proposals, Legal or Commercial
- Experience in FEED, EPC, Commissioning and / or Operations such that Client's recognise the experience from later phases being considered in their early project phase
- Proficient in the use of project scheduling, estimating and cost accounting tools and methods
