We are seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Linux enterprise systems to join our dynamic team. Based out of London Gateway in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, reporting into our Infrastructure manager and working in a UK team of 5. In this role you will design, implement, and maintain the IT infrastructure within DP World UK Terminals.
Our ideal candidate will have solid experience as an Infrastructure Engineer and experience in Linux. We are looking for someone with excellent IT expertise and customer service skills are required for this hands on role. You’ll participate in the 24*7 system support of business critical and essential IT services; no two days or problems will be the same in this fast-paced job. We're searching for someone who can approach problems with a can-do mentality and identify solutions.
Location: Stanford le Hope, hybrid working
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri) an additional On call requirement (compensated)

About the Role
- We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure engineer with a strong focus on Linux operating systems; it is essential that you are adept at using the Linux command-line interface (CLI) and have a good working knowledge of Linux (preferably Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL/Rocky).
- To provide the IT infrastructure to meet the business needs including:
- Provide 1st, 2nd & 3rd level infrastructure and desktop support;
- Participate in the 24*7 system support of business critical and essential IT services;
- Assist in maintaining Data Center operations and maintain uninterrupted production systems;
- Manage the storage media, including the SAN, its usage, backup and archiving policies;
- Support the Senior Infrastructure Engineer to actively manage the high availability solutions across two sites;
- Utilize virtualization to maximize use of hardware;
- Continuously monitor System Capacity requirements - Disc storage, processor utilization, communications bandwidth, power, UPS/standby generator
What you will bring
- Must be experience with Linux Ubuntu, Debian Linux, RHEL/Rocky Linux in an enterprise environment including best practise security configurations and patch management.
- Have experience with automation tools - Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet
- Have experience with scripting – BASH and Poweshell
- Would be desirable to have experience with containers/Kubernetes
- Must have proven experience as an Infrastructure engineer or similar role
- Have experience with VMWare product – vCenter, ESXi, clusters
- Have knowledge of server chassis and blade concepts
- Have experience with SAN technologies
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communications skills, due to close contact with senior management and European business units;
- Knowledge and understanding of new products on the market.
- Experience of and Trained in: Microsoft technologies, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Failover Clustered Services, Group Policy, IP protocol, firewall configuration, SCOM and SCCM desirable;
- VMware, chassis server and SAN storage fundamentals
