Job Descrption

The Opportunity:

You will further the School’s international reputation in health policy research and teaching. Contributing to existing health policy courses – including in health policy and global health governance - via face-to-face and online distance learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and leading one of the Unit’s courses as best aligns with your research and teaching expertise. You will also provide academic student supervision and support. 

 

You will present a research profile, in both experience to date and in future potential, which is at the forefront of global health policy and which reflects a multidisciplinary understanding of public health and/or health policy. We are open to sub-specialisation within this, complementing our existing research strengths in health policy process, power and governance, health systems, commercial determinants of health, equity and health inequalities, knowledges and epistemologies of health, and care in formal and informal settings. 

 

You will also play a full part in the collegial life of the Subject Group and the School.

 

This post is fixed term for 48 months from August 2024

 

This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns, for not less than 0.8fte (28 hours per week). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. 

 

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD or equivalent, awarded by the time of appointment, in a field of social or political science, public health or another demonstrably relevant discipline
  • Evidence of attainments in teaching, appropriate to career stage. This will be indicative of commitment to, and potential for, excellence in teaching. This includes an ability to develop courses/programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to promote outstanding student experience.
  • Evidence of a well-defined area of research within global health policy and/or global public health and resultant publication activities, appropriate to career stage.
  • Evidence of a clear commitment to administrative duties as appropriate to career stage.
