College of Medicine and Vet Medicine / Edinburgh Medical School / Medical Education

Fixed-term for 4 years in the first instance, with possibility of extension for a further 2 years

Part Time- 10.5 hours a week/0.3FTE 

 

The Opportunity:

Applications are invited for the post of MBChB Year 5 Director in the Medical School: Medical Education, within the College of Medicine and Vet Medicine. 

The postholder will provide leadership to, and operational delivery of, Year 5 of the MBChB programme. 

This is an operational post which requires strong leadership skills, planning abilities and organisational skills, along with the ability to manage change effectively. The postholder will work with academics, NHS partners, and students to ensure successful delivery of Year 5 of the MBChB. They will also provide insights to further enhance the MBChB programme including teaching and clinical learning opportunities.

 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Currently working as a consultant (substantive or honorary) or General Practitioner.
  • A good understanding of the MBChB programme.
  • Experience of teaching and assessing on the MBChB programme.
  • Motivated, conscientious and innovative with the ability to plan, organise, and prioritise,
  • Ideally, you will be currently involved in an operational or strategic group within the medical school or College or similar group within NHS or post-graduate medical education field.
