Job Descrption
Assists in the continuous improvement process by performing quality improvement activities, sterile compounding assessments, and auditing department compliance. Provides technical direction and assists in organizing workflow at the individual pharmacy location. Provides technician job training, development & mentoring; monitors new pharmacy technician progress; and provides recommendations for annual performance evaluations. Provides technical staff leadership resource for problem resolution, technician project management, and quality control/quality improvement activities. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work performed in order to maintain the integrity of the service and system.
High School Diploma/GED
A minimum of two years’ pharmacy technician experience required. One year prior Mayo Pharmacy Technician II or equivalent experience preferred.
Completes continuing education necessary for maintenance of certification.
Knowledge of pharmacy and medical terminology with ability to read and interpret physician prescriptions/orders.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Advanced computer skills.
Technicians must comply with all applicable institutional policies and AZ State Board of Pharmacy Scope of Practice guidelines, procedures, and regulations. Current Pharmacy Technician certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Current Pharmacy Technician certification/licensure by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
Must successfully complete and maintain National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination.
