In this role employees will have direct patient contact. The primary function is to transport patients and patient related items in a safe and efficient manner. Employees will provide safe, courteous, and reliable Non-Medical transportation for patients being discharged from Mayo Clinic hospital campuses to locations within a 60-mile radius. Employees must demonstrate proficiency in the safe operation of multiple types of motorized patient transport equipment which require exceptional fine motor skills and must have full use of hands, ability to do repetitive wrist and elbow movements, repetitive foot motions and trunk rotate/twist/reach actions. Disinfecting equipment after each patient use and maintenance as needed through the appropriate channels.
High school diploma/GED; 2 years of commercial driving experience and an excellent driving history. Active driver's license with an excellent driving record is required. CDL may be required. Strong customer service skills is essential, computer skills including fluency in handheld devices such as I-Phone, GPS systems and other technology, verbal and written communications skills, problem solving, continuous improvement, ability to work independently or as part of a team, professional and positive demeanor, emotional intelligence and discernment in good judgement. Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, confident driving and in all weather conditions and in metropolitan and rural areas. Required to navigate roads, metro, and rural areas within a 60-mile radius of the Mayo Clinic campus. Familiar in operating a passenger type Transit vehicle, with a lift and a L latch system. Responsible for monitoring and scheduling all routine maintenance on vehicles in use by non-medical patient transportation team. Valid Driver’s License with an excellent driving record is required. A Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card may be required. CDL may be required. Current AHA Health Care Provider CPR certification, in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.
