This position requires the provider to work in multiple Hospital Medicine areas such as inpatient rounding, the Rapid Recovery and Discovery (RDR) unit and the Transitional Care Clinic (TCC). RDR is a fast-paced, highly autonomous role, and is involved in the complete care of the patient from admission to discharge. The inpatient rounding role involves the APP working in collaboration with MD colleague to provide comprehensive care with the level of autonomy based on APP level of experience. The Transitional Care Clinic was developed to provide expedited post hospital visits with the APP working in a highly autonomous role.
The NP/PA can expect to manage 8 – 10 patients at any given time, noting that current daily patient turnover rate is between 80 – 100%.
The NP/PA will provide comprehensive direct and indirect patient care in the acute care hospital setting from admission to discharge. Communicates with physicians regarding changes in patient’s clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies, and patient symptomatology as appropriate. In response to changes in patient condition, quickly, accurately, and effectively modifies therapeutic interventions to promote optimal health status. Conducts staff and patient education to promote wellness and prevention of health problems. Develops resources and communicates knowledge to members of healthcare team, patients, and their family members.
2 years NP or PA experience preferred; previous hospital experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.
Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. WI RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP, ANP, or ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the State WI State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Current BLS and ACLS certification. DEA required.
