Job Descrption

Job ID: 18680

SDL supports a variety of missions, including NASA's vision to reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind and the Department of Defense's aim to protect our Nation on the ground, in the air, and in space. Our sensors, satellites, software systems, and science and engineering play an essential role in some important missions you've heard of, and others that you haven't. Join our team in our seventh decade of delivering mission success.

SDL is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science or similar field at Utah State University to assist full time software developers and software testers in developing and testing VANTAGE plugins that are used for imagery sensor data processing.  For more information about VANTAGE see: https://www.sdl.usu.edu/media-events/media-library/pdf/vantage/.

This position is year-round, part-time employment, not a summer internship. The work week consists of 15-20 hours per week during the school year and potentially 30-40 hours per week during the summer. Students design their schedule each semester to accommodate their classes. We simply require that they work their hours on weekdays between 7am-6pm. Students generally keep their position until they graduate and may be retained up to one semester after graduation as they apply for full time positions. This position is in the C4ISR division, MSB branch. We are somewhat flexible on a start date but generally we are looking for candidates to start in the next 2 months.

When hired, the student team member will be part of the full software development and test process, and will be expected to assist in the design, documentation, writing, reviewing, debugging, and testing of software. Students will be expected to learn and follow the same process as full-time developers. The members of our team frequently interact with other VANTAGE teams and hardware engineers in the design, implementation, and testing of their features as well. Job-specific training will be provided.
