SCOPE OF POSITION
The Outreach & Navigation Worker for the Multnomah County area serves as a member of a larger team based out of the Joint Coordination Centre or a TSA location within the Portland Metro area. This position conducts Outreach to homeless encampments and individuals and provides case management to homeless or those at-risk of homelessness through mobile community outreach and housing navigation work. The Program Model includes Mobile Outreach, Relational Case Management and Community Networking. The primary objective of this position is to provide aid to individuals in housing attainment, utilizing the minimum assistance needed to address each household’s immediate housing crisis. The Outreach Worker will regularly visit and work with individual clients to identify and overcome barriers to housing and healthcare and refer these households to other resources in the community (mainstream services, benefit services, health care, food assistance programs, childcare resources, etc.).
The Outreach Worker for TSA is a position of trust—representing, nurturing, protecting, and advancing the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army; and serving the needs of people with dignity and respect. Conduct on and off the job must sustain a positive impact on TSA’s mission, goals, programs, and public image.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. An Associates degree is strongly preferred.
In lieu of degree: 2+ years of relevant experience with 2 years specific work in the nonprofit realm.
2+ years of demonstrated experience in related social services is preferred.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred: Certified Recovery Mentors, Peer Support Specialists, State Driver’s License.
