As a Research Chemist at Meta, in our Optics & Display Research group (O&DR), you will play a critical role in developing AR/VR systems. You will focus on developing advanced materials, process and devices for near eye displays, and will become part of a team exploring novel concepts through design, modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. We are seeking someone who works well in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, who communicates complex concepts clearly and succinctly, who demonstrates scientific rigor, who is unafraid to tackle new challenges, and who works well in high-ambiguity discovery phases. Take a critical role in developing/identifying new materials and process for AR/VR systems.
Design, synthesis, and characterization of organic small molecules and their solid-state phases for optics and optoelectronics systems.
Develop and implement research agenda, apply high standards to the research and develop an ability to identify highly impactful projects in a complete and unexplored domain.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD or equivalent experience in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
1+ year's experience in Organic Chemistry, Optics, AR/VR, or a related industry.
Experience with small molecular organo-electronics and opto-electronics.
Experience solving analytical problems using analytic and quantitative approaches.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, trade-offs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
Research and engineering experience demonstrated via grants, fellowships, patents, internships, product development, or work experience.
