About the opportunity

The Jacobs Cities & Places team create thriving places - from regions, cities, neighbourhoods & communities through to individual buildings and all through an integrated design approach. We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us to build upon our strengths and develop an interdisciplinary planning, design and delivery practice that is uniquely Jacobs, that sets the direction for the industry and is home to the very best and brightest design thinkers, disruptors, technical experts, visionaries and storytellers.

Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, designers, place-makers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients, both domestically and internationally.

We are looking for talented people to join our Building Surveying team to continue our focus on building relationships and delighting our clients - 90% of our revenue is from repeat business. We work on unique and exciting projects and can offer a stable platform upon which your career can develop. You will be working on the full range of Surveying services with a particular focus on TDD and project work.

Jacobs has an enviable reputation in the UK consultancy sector as a result of a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients across many sectors including transport infrastructure, commercial, the public sector, healthcare, education, industrial, residential and mixed-use developments.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to engage with diverse projects, with full APC support and training to Chartership. Our wide ranging Building Surveying services are client / project specific and as a truly multidisciplinary consultancy, you will work alongside experts in many different specialist areas.

Here's what you'll need
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying
• Working towards MRICS accreditation - AssocRICS or the relevant experience
• Private practice or / consultancy background with 2 to 3 years’ relevant work experience
• Experience in Surveying the condition of existing buildings, identifying and analysing defects including proposals for repair – inspecting and providing advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites
• Previous work supporting more senior Surveying colleagues in undertaking a wide range of building surveying services to include dilapidations, project management, technical due diligence and planned preventative maintenance programs
• Some knowledge of relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations / planning and the Building Safety Act
• Client contact skills to help you play an active part in promoting the company’s services to secure projects and enhance the company’s reputation
• Strong report writing ability and experience of producing specifications and drawings for the repair, refurbishment, demolition and re-building of all typesof buildings
• Some experience of supporting tender processes and assisting with post-tender analysis
