Job Description
What will you be doing?
As an embedded software engineer, you will join the Basildon team on a hybrid basis to support our activities within the Defence sector.
you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of a system architecture designed to offer a modular approach to safeguarding vehicle platforms and their crews from both current and emerging threats, such as Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR)
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Embedded Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for defence communication systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and security protocols.
- System Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with hardware components, ensuring seamless operation and reliability.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and other software-related issues to enhance system efficiency.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and validation of embedded software to meet stringent quality and reliability standards.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, code comments, and user manuals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
- Compliance: Ensure that all software development activities comply with industry regulations, security guidelines, and customer requirements.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3+ Years) in embedded software development, particularly in C/C++.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development tools.
- Experience with MATLAB and SIMULINK for modelling
- Able to define high level requirements
- Experience in Software architecture - RTI/DDS, Configuration of quality of service for DDS, Using IBM Rhapsody for UML design.
