Job Descrption
The Inventory Manager/Controller is responsible for overseeing and controlling vessel inventory turnover in shipping company. This role ensures that all spare parts, equipment, and consumables required for vessel operations are adequately logged, stocked, tracked, and efficiently distributed across the fleet. The ideal candidate will adhere best practices in inventory control, procurement coordination, and cost optimization to ensure seamless maritime operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management & Control:
• Maintain accurate records of all spare parts, tools, and consumables for vessels in company ERP system
• Following of inventory control procedures to minimize waste, loss, and excess stock.
• Conduct periodical and/or on demand audits and inspections of warehouse and vessel inventories.
• Optimize stock levels to prevent shortages while minimizing holding costs.
• Coordinate the movement of inventory between warehouses and vessels.
• Supervise compliance of vessel delivery and inventory movement documents.
• Work closely with vessel crews to understand their supply needs and optimize delivery schedules.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination:
• Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely sourcing and delivery of required materials.
• Time to time involvement in procurement process, from ship request to placing orders and delivery.
• Coordinate supply delivery schedules to vessel locations.
• Accept deliveries onboard the vessels on demand.
Work Environment:
• Office-based role (company office is in JLT) with occasional visits to warehouses, suppliers, and vessels.
• Part remote work is allowed on request.
• May require regular travels to different ports for inventory inspections within UAE, KSA, India and other countries.
• Salary – TBA with candidate after preliminary interview.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
• 2+ years of experience in supply chain management, logistics or inventory control preferably in the maritime or shipping industry OR seaman experience in the past on any vessel type.
• Knowledge of basic offshore vessel equipment and components for better spare parts management is highly required.
• Understanding of inventory management software / ERP systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Good level of communication both English and Russian is preferrable.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adopt to situation.
