Job Description

SGS are currently seeking a skilled and ambitious Business Development Manager to join our team in the UK and drive the growth of our business solutions across the Environmental business division.

As a Business Development Manager at SGS UK, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our client base, identifying strategic opportunities, and strengthening our position as the preferred partner for quality and compliance services. This position offers a unique chance to contribute to the success of a global leader while spearheading business development initiatives in the dynamic UK market.

Responsibilities:

  • Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, competitors, and growth areas within the UK. Stay informed about industry regulations and changes that may impact our services.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute targeted business development strategies aligned with local objectives. Identify key clients and tailor plans to capitalise on emerging opportunities.
  • Client Acquisition: Proactively identify and engage potential clients. Utilise your industry knowledge and network to position SGS as the trusted provider for their testing, inspection, and certification needs.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with technical experts and cross-functional teams to create compelling proposals. Showcase the unique value proposition of SGS and tailor solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Lead negotiations, address client concerns, and successfully close deals. Manage the end-to-end sales process, ensuring a seamless experience for clients while achieving revenue targets.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with clients, industry partners, and stakeholders. Act as a consultant, understanding their challenges and delivering solutions.
  • Performance Tracking: Utilise key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the success of business development initiatives. Provide regular reports to leadership, offering insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have proven experience in business development in the B2B service sector. You’ll demonstrate Strategic thinking with the ability to execute tactically and will have excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. A background in testing, inspection, and certification industry or familiarity with the regulatory landscape and industry standards in the UK would be advantageous.
