We have an exciting opportunity for a catering assistant to join the catering team here at our Surbiton HQ. Our onsite canteen "The Hangar" is well equipped to cater to the needs of up to 200 people by providing hot and cold meals daily to not only our on-site employees but our employees visiting from our offices overseas.
Job Description
Working alongside the catering manager the main duty of this role is to assist with preparing and serving approximately 80 hot meals and 20 cold meals per day. Duties will also include but are not limited too:
- Assist with basic food preparation including washing and peeling food and organising ingredients
- Working in accordance with Health and Hygiene regulations and the kitchen Food Safety Management System
- Keep all areas of the kitchen tidy to a high standard, washing up and emptying the dishwasher., removing all waste in a timely manner
- Inputting ideas in to a changing weekly menu
- Refilling tea / coffee stations and fruit bowls around the building when required
- Checking stock levels and expiry dates on a daily basis
- Assist with shopping orders and shopping deliveries
Qualifications
- Must be Level 2 certified in Food Hygiene and Safety
- Previous experience of offering catering support in a similar position is essential
- Must have high standards of personal hygiene
- Fast and efficient whilst working in a fast paced and demanding kitchen
- Exceptional communication skills & self-motivation
- Fluency in English is essential; a second language is an advantage
- Ability to work under pressure with a high sense of urgency
- A hard-working team player who is able to work both in a team and independently
- Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise efficiently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional and courteous whilst working with and serving colleagues
