Job Description
The Mechanical Foreman plays a key role in coordinating, supervising, and actively participating in the repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment. The individual in this position will be responsible for overseeing mechanical tasks, diagnosing malfunctions, and ensuring the timely completion of maintenance and repair work.
- Attend breakdown works on site and prepare daily breakdown reports.
- Quickly and safely evaluate/troubleshoot worksite equipment repairs.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform mechanical repairs on various vehicles and equipment.
- Supervise mechanical jobs and machines’ maintenance.
- Determine the priority of work orders and assign them to personnel.
- Assure the timely completion of work.
- Request spare parts as needed.
- Perform routine mechanical jobs at the site.
- Update job cards and timesheets accurately.
- Prepare daily service schedules and follow up on their execution.
- Maintain all machines as per the weekly service chart.
- Service machines at regular intervals (250 hrs., 500 hrs., 1000 hrs., 2000 hrs.).
- Check all machine safety devices regularly.
- Coordinate with the workshop in charge.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge to read and understand Process Diagrams, Drawings, Layouts, Technical Datasheets, and Operation Manuals.
- Understanding of maintenance/service manuals.
- Expertise in tools, equipment, and procedures used in the general overhaul, repairs, and maintenance of automotive equipment.
- Physically fit, able to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Team player and a problem-solver.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
Qualifications
- Relevant technical education certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in similar roles.
- Familiarity with technologies involved in electrical, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
- Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas, and/or fumes.
- Knowledge of the principles of internal combustion engines.
- Candidate must be ready to be assigned within the MENA Region (UAE, Qatar, KSA) & east Africa (Tanzania & Mozambique).
